QI always buy carrots a lot in one time just b/c it's cheaper to buy this way, but 2 to 3 days after opening the bags, carrots start loosing their water and become old and not fresh. I eventually waste a lot of carrots by tossing them in garbage. Can you tell me how to keep carrots fresh longer?
A The best way to keep carrots fresh longer is to keep them in a container (with lid) filled with cold water. Place it in refrigerator. They are root vegetable, so they absorb and retain water very well. For the best result, change water periodically (may be once a week basis). It's also work to keep carrots fresh longer in airtight bags and containers.
